More catching up

Over Memorial Day, Jordan went on the annual boys backpacking trip with my dad, brothers and my mom's side of the family. They went to Escalante this year.

Spent the 24th of July in Bear Lake.

We went to Zupa's with my family for my mom's birthday. I stole pretty much all these pictures of the summer from my mom since I'm so bad at taking pictures, that's why there's never any with the Wilson side...sorry about that!

Kit is also really good at making messes. This was when Grandma tended so me and Jordan could sleep over at the new Chick-fil-a in Layton. We got free meals for a year, ha ha.

Cali Trip

We got to visit my grandpa in San Diego this past summer with my family.

Kit's first time to the ocean.

Dress Design for Shabby Apple dresses

Here is my 2010 dress design for Shabby Apple dresses, “Birds of a Feather”.

The fabric is so much fun! It is a chiffon with cute little birds. I really like the blue birds on white and then I added a yellow wrap for some more color.

I’m lucky enough to have such a cute sister to be my model.

There is a little ruffle at the back of the dress. I tried to take a picture of it straight on, but you couldn’t really tell what it was. So this is the view from the side.

I think my inspiration would probably be from this fun fabric. I love little birds! They were the theme at my wedding reception and pretty much anything with a bird on it just makes me happy. So when I found this fabric, I thought I just had to do something with it. And that something is this dress designed especially for you, Shabby Apple!

I sure had fun designing it and I hope you like it! Enjoy!

A Little Vay-Cay

We Wilsons have had a great summer and even though fall is my favorite season, I’m sad to see the summer end. Here are some of the things we have been up to:

I had Mitty and Kit one Saturday when Jordan had to work so we went to the Ogden Nature Center

Mitko did great! He was really excited to help me push the stroller This was a “bear’s den”. Mitko told me there was a bear sleeping inside.

We also went to the Treehouse, which was crazy because it was free admission and there were kids running around everywhere and Mitko was just running from exhibit to exhibit. So we didn’t stay there long, and went to the Train Museum instead. It went much better.

It's 1:30 in the morning and Jordan just got home from basketball. I hear a clinking sound in the bathroom and I'm sure Mimi has found something annoying to play with and go to investigate. I walk into the bathroom to find, not my cat, but my husband, eating a huge bowl of leftover pasta salad...in the shower...with the water on.

I have to mention that Jordan was such a good sport about this little shindig in our backyard. I insisted we hang these crazy tissue paper pom poms from the tree and tape these pink table cloths on even though it was windy. So it was seriously midnight the night before and Jordan was willingly standing on a chair and tying pom poms and taping tablecloths all around for me even though the tape wasn't sticking and we had to put plates on all the tables to keep everything from blowing away. What a trooper. Thanks babe!

Happy One Month!

My little muffin is One Month Old today!! She is so much fun! Every morning I wake up and think, "Oh I have a baby!!" and I get all excited and then I go to scoop her out of bed and I'm pretty sure she's gotten cuter while she's slept. She sleeps pretty good at night and usually only wakes up about once around 3 or 4. Even so, I must admit that Jordan has come home from work several times (including today at lunch) to find this:

We love to take naps on the lazy boy. For awhile, it was the only comfy place for me to sit that I could get up out of. I think my favorite thing in the whole world is having Kit scrunched up on my shoulder.

My aunt Julie got us this sleep sack that is awesome! I realize it somewhat resembles a straight jacket, but it swaddles your little bundle of joy and it's supposed to help prevent SIDS.

Our naughty cat Mimi has also found she enjoys getting a little snooze...in Kit's bed (luckily not with her in it!)

Housing Projects

Well, after a long time coming....The Mitko Room is finally finished!...basically, at least. I mean the doors still need handles, the windows need sills, and we still have to cover this crazy pole in the room, BUT for the most part it's done.

Here's the before and after of the Mitko Room and then we've done a couple things with Kit's room too. She was in our bedroom in a cradle until just a couple nights ago when she moved into her own place.

Visitors and the First Days Home

We're home! Here's our first few days with Kit.

She had to have a little phototherapy paddle on her back the first day home. Then luckily our pediatrician Uncle John said she was looking good so we got rid of the phototherapy. Yay!

The Wilsons

We totally got hooked up with tons of diapers and baby supplies from the hospital. Four of my nurses were DATC graduates, and then we ran into one of Mitko's old supervisor's from the Autism House, and we had a really cool CNA that all hooked us up with formula, diaper bags and baby diapers. It was sweet!

We went for a little stroller ride on Sunday, when Kit was one week old. We had the cover over her face, but we pulled it back for a minute to check on her and these is the awesome face she gave us.

***Warning: Most have you have heard this whole story 1 million + times, but I'm just writing this down for my future memories, so feel free to totally bypass the script and just enjoy the photos of our cute Kit.***

We spent Saturday, April 17 with our friends the Gines' and went to bed around midnight. We had a great night's sleep and woke up on Sunday to get ready for church. I was supposed to teach the Young Women's lesson that morning on the temple and so around 8:30 I went downstairs to find a picture of our wedding or something. I was bending over, sorting through lots of our junk, and I felt something trickle down my leg. I was pretty sure my bladder was just a little too full and had spilled over. I went upstairs and told Jordan about my newest embarrassing pregnancy symptom. I was 37 weeks and 4 days and Jordan said it could have been my water breaking. I thought there was no way. I was still a little uneasy about the whole thing though, so I called my mom, and she suggested we monitor it and see if something happened again and we could always just run up to the hospital really quick to have them check. I also called Amy Schaugaard to ask her what it was like when her water broke. She suggested about the same.

So we headed off to church and walking inside, it happened again-a weird little trickle of uncontrolled wetness. Well now I'm really worried that I am going to be teaching young womens and have a full-blown accident. On the other hand, I am too embarrassed to tell the YW leaders that I can't teach because my water might have broken or I might be incontinent. I had made some handouts for class and I didn't want them to go to waste, and I also didn't want to seem totally unprepared (which happened another week I was supposed to teach, and just completely spaced it), so I made Jordan take up the handouts and just tell them I couldn't come. He asked what he should tell them, and I said I had no idea. So Jordan took my fliers up and they asked, "Is Jess coming in?" and Jordan just gave them a very vague answer that did not elude to anything. Something like, "Oh she's not coming cause we've got to go check....something...." I guess they took it, because he came back down and we decided to go home and discuss the matter. So we called the hospital and they were kind of like, "Well we could tell you over the phone whether it's your water or not, but you can just come in and get checked and it's not a big deal." So we decided to just go. Jordan grabbed the car seat, just in case, but we didn't have a bag packed or anything and we just went in our church clothes. When we got to the hospital, we went up to the Women's floor and the minute we walk out of the elevator I hear "Jessica, are you in labor?" It was one of the nursing students from the DATC. So I had to go over to her and explain that I was pretty sure I had just wet my pants, but we were "just checking". And I said something like, "But if you don't see me on Monday...ha ha..." So we go to the nurse's desk and they take us into the triage room and tell me I have to put on a nursing gown and go to a bed to be assessed. We sat in there awhile and there was the strangest cartoon on the TV, some "Purple Nurple" thing. So strange. Anyways, the nurse comes in and tells us they're going to use an acid/base strip to test for amniotic fluid. The strip will turn blue if it is, she told us. Then she said she was going to also look for a pooling of fluid. So next thing I know, she's checking me with the speculum and she just goes, "Oh yep." Then she holds up this bright blue strip and says, "It's baby time". Me and Jordan just looked at each other bewildered. Then she starts typing all this stuff in the computer and I'm hooked up to a contraction monitor. The nurse asked, "Are you feeling that?" I said no. "You're having a contraction right now." I was just totally oblivious and not feeling a thing. So she starts laughing and says some of them are like 2 minutes apart. I just kind of shrugged. So next they decide to wheel me to the delivery room because now, my water is definitely broken.

Once in the room, we started calling and texting people to let them know where we were. They wanted to start me on Pitocin to get the ball really rolling, but I just really didn't want it if possible. We decided to wait an hour and see how all was progressing. Happily, my labor was progressing quickly on it's own, so no Pitocin was needed at first. I started slowing feeling contractions and then they started progressing in intensity. After a few hours, the nurse decided to try a small bit of Pitocin to speed things up. They turned on the machine to pump the med and my contractions started coming really strong and really close together. Almost right away, they came and shut the machine off. Kit was coming on her own.

All of my family and the Wilsons, along with Grandma Marilyn came and waited in the waiting room for hours. I was breathing through the contractions with Jordan putting "counterpressure" on my legs to help me through. Finally, I was like, "Okay, this has been fun but I'm ready for the epidural."

My mom was so sweet and attentive. She made like a million trips to get me popsicles and ice.

The anesthesiologist came in and was just really calm and put in the epidural while I had my legs over the side of the bed and my head up against Jordan's chest. He watched it and said it was pretty crazy.

Once the epidural was in, I remember just feeling so relaxed and excited. I took a nap and was just quite content. I was dilating about a centimeter an hour and all was progressing well. My siblings came in as it was getting close to time for me to push. They asked me if I was nervous or anything and I said "No, just excited!" And I really was. I didn't really have any fear, I was just so anxious for our little girl. They asked me if I wanted to start pushing, or wait and rest awhile. I was ready to go, so I wanted to push.

I started pushing for about 30 minutes and not too much was happening, so we decided to try to "rest and descend", and have me lay on one side and then switch about every 15 minutes, to try to get the baby to descend into the birth canal on her own. We tried that and I got another nap in, and then pushed some more. We started being able to see Kit's hair and that gave me a lot of encouragement. The nurses kept saying, "It's 2 steps forward and one step back", meaning that she was coming down, but then would go back up as soon as I stopped pushing. Finally, the nurse started saying that she was looking really good and we could call the doctor. Yay! Now it really was go time.

They started me on Pitocin again to give an extra little push at the end. The doctor showed up and we were ready to go. I love our doctor, Julia Johansson. She is so cool. She showed up at the hospital in this little Hollister t-shirt with a denim mini skirt and some leggings. She's this petite woman and she is just very down-to-earth and matter-of-fact. So I start pushing again and I hear Julia say, "She's not even past the pubic bone yet." I thought we had passed that little road block long ago! I was totally bummed and I was getting pretty tired. I also heard them say it was likely she was "PO" or "OP", I can't remember, but I didn't know what that meant, but it means "face up". At this point, I just started to cry. We kept pushing and nothing was really happening, so Julia decided to try to turn the baby's head. Holy cow, it hurt so so bad! They told me to just breath and that wasn't working so well for me cause it hurt! I think this is the point I started screaming and I just remember my friend Kathy saying, "Jessica, look at me and breath with me." I tried the breathing through the crying and it helped. Everything else seemed to happen really fast then. I heard Julia say that Kit was stuck on the pubic bone and we needed to try vacuum or forceps. She was a fan of the forceps and it was a little encouraging to have her say that she teaches doctors on how to use forceps and has won some awards for her forceps skills or something. She then proceeds to tell me how she has to explain the risks involved, such as bruising, abnormal head shape and skull fracture. But it was that or a C-section. I just heard the words "skull fracture" and "C-section". If I wasn't crying before, I was definitely crying then. I just pictured my little girl getting pulled out like that and it made me so sad. I still had to try to push my hardest with the forceps, cause they were only going to help with the pushing. WOW, they were incredibly painful. At some point, the anesthesiologist came in to give me more epidural meds, but I don't really remember when that was. All I can say is, when my mom later asked me what the forceps felt like, the only way I could describe it was someone sticking salad tongs in your body, grabbing a body part, then twisting and trying to pull it out. Kind of a gruesome description, but that's how I felt. (Warning: do not be alarmed if you ever have to have forceps used on you in the future. My friend Kathy (who is a nurse midwife) told me that mine was not the usual experience.) Anyways, I'm trying to give it the last of what I can, because I kind of knew it was now or never. So I am pushing and screaming (which I hear is not a very effective thing to do), and I remember thinking, "I'm probably scaring all the other pregnant women in the other rooms" but I didn't care. I guess my family could hear me out in the hall, and it really upset my dad. It was really cute, when I talked to him later he was so concerned about me and people said he just turned all white and looked like he wanted to burst into the room.

Finally, Julia just puts down the forceps and says "She's stuck. We've got to do a C-section." Then I just hear her telling the nurse to call down to so-and-so and prep this and that. Most likely more crying by me and I was scared. They wheeled me out of the room and it was a pretty cool experience. All of our family was lined up on either side of the hallway and as I wheeled past them they just all grabbed my hand or told me how much they loved me and were praying for me and Kit. Then the craziest thing happened. Once we got into the OR (Jordan was with me), we both felt really calm. I had totally stopped crying and really just felt at peace. As a side note, my dad said it was really reassuring to see that this was really not a tense or stressful situation for Julia, because as she sauntered down the hall past all the anxious family on her way to the OR, she calmly just said, "Looks like quite the crowd here tonight."

They gave me more meds , put up a little shield (which blocked nothing for Jordan) and then someone swabbed my stomach with alcohol. I remember a little moment of panic and I said, "Uh, I can totally feel that." Luckily, they said that was normal. The anesthesiologist did a test with another alcohol wipe to see what I could feel and then Julia also tested me. She said "Okay, can you feel this?" It felt like someone very lightly poking my stomach, and I told her so. "Okay, good," she said, "because I'm pinching your skin really hard." Jordan later told me that she had some surgical tweezer things and was just totally pinching and pulling up on my skin. I didn't want to focus on what I knew was going on, so I told Jordan to distract me. He was so great, he just started bringing up funny stories and reminding me of finding out about Kit and how she was going to be here soon. C-sections are so fast! It was only about 10 minutes and then I heard Jordan say, "She's out!" I was like, "What? She's out?" The excitement kicked in again. I thought I would hear her cry, like you do in the movies, but I didn't. Then they whisked her over the side of the shield to show me, and the wave of emotion and happiness that immediately swept over me was indescribable. They whisked her away just as fast, because there was meconium present in my amniotic fluid so they had to make sure nothing was ingested into her lungs or anything. I just looked over at Jordan and was so happy. He was going to stay with me, but I told him to go see Kit and get some pictures for me. I really was just laying there so happy. At one point, I heard someone say, "Okay now we're going to put everything back in you. We could leave it all out, but people might look at you funny."

Then Jordan brought these first pictures back to show me:

Then Jordan was able to bring her in for a picture while they stitched me up.

She was perfect! She had this beautiful black hair and she kept making the cutest little noises. They wheeled to the recovery room and everyone was anxiously try to look through the window to get a peek. Jordan held her up to the window and then brought her in for me to hold for the first time. The nurse said to try breastfeeding, so we did and she latched right on! Then since we were the only ones in recovery, they said everyone could come in to see her and say "Bye" to us. What an incredible experience! I was holding my baby girl, surrounded by all of our family there who had waited and prayed all day for little Kit and I. All I can say is, we sure felt the love.

Thank you to everyone for your advice, encouragement and support throughout my pregnancy and Kit's birth. We love you all and are so happy you could be a part of our lives and our little family.

Welcome here Kit!

One of the DATC students gave me a girly little sleep mask for Kit. My mom found it when she was so kindly helping to clean our house and brought it up to the hospital for us to get a picture of Kit with it on, cause it's just super cute.

Well, Kit had a little bit of jaundice so she had to go under the phototherapy lights in the nursery. We went to go see her and all of the babies under the lamps had these black blinders on to cover their eyes from the light. So we thought of the little baby sleep mask. We asked the nurses if she could wear it instead of the black blinders, and they were fine with that. So we went to see her again and this time there were all the other babies in the phototherapy boxes, and then there was Kit, looking like a little beauty queen.

What's Going On?

We are getting so excited for our little baby Kit to come. We've only got a little over 5 weeks to wait now, and I can't believe she's really going to be here. This is the original Kit, my cute little mom. I hope our little one turns out just like this!
Here are her first photos. She kept putting her hands by her face during the ultrasound and we have another really cute picture of her cuddling with the umbilical cord. The last picture are her little crossed feet. She has not been shy at all during her ultrasounds, so we're pretty sure she's a girl...
I should have kept track of when we took some of these pictures, but here's my first bit of a bump, although I'm not really sure how far along I was. I do remember totally thinking how much I was showing though.
Here is Uncle Mitko at Christmastime, eating all of our advent calendar candies. Random side story. We have these chocolate truffles at our house dusted in cocoa powder that Mitko really likes. So last week, Mitko finds our cocoa powder, and thinking that it must taste like the truffles, Mitty just downs a heaping spoonful of it. Jordan said his face just dropped when he actually tasted it. Then he ran to our bathroom and grabbed both of our toothbrushes to try to get rid of all the chocolate. Poor dude!

Next up, we're a little further along here.

Jordan and his brother went snowshoeing one time when they had the day off. We had tons and tons of snow and we didn't have to return the snowshoes until noon the next day, so Jordan woke me up that morning and we went snowshoeing around our yard. Our neighbors probably think we are so weird, but we had fun.
I turned 24 in January. It was a good birthday and I think this is going to be a really good year.

Yes, Kit is growing good!
We've only got 2 bedrooms upstairs and our basement is totally unfinished. So over the past few months, we have been working on getting a room done down there so that Mitko could have a place to stay on the weekends, since we will be kicking him out of the bright pink soon-to-be baby room.
There's all kinds of funny pipes and old wiring in the basement, and we totally couldn't have done any of it without the tons of help we've gotten from family and friends. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to Allen, Jesse, Wade, Patrick, Tyler and Tim!!! We owe you all big time!!
Jordan's dad has given up weeks of Saturdays and holidays to help us get this room together. He spent a good 5+ hours today helping us get the doors on, and then had to help us get the handle back on our bathroom door so that we could open that after Mitko decided to pull it off.

We are getting so close to being done..... (when I say "we", I really mean "Jordan + others". I really have done no work at all in the basement, just to clarify).
Here is Kit's empty room. That window in the picture is brand new, thanks to Mitty breaking our other one when he saw Jordan outside one day and decided he needed to pound the window to get his attention.

Oh baby! Look at that belly! We still haven't done much with the baby room, but we do have the crib up. I think I'm around 30 or so weeks in this one.

May I note that besides just seeing how my stomach has grown, these pregnancy pictures also do a pretty accurate job of documenting my evolving attire. In the first picture, I'm actually wearing a dress, and then I have now come to this regular outfit I put on the minute I'm home from work, which is usually sweats (my own or Jordan's) and any shirt that fit over my stomach (although I think this one is stretching it to make it over the bump).

We went to a Jazz game on St. Patrick's day and had a fun time. Jordan was willing to strike some sexy poses before the game.

And here I am today at 34.5 weeks along, with Leslee and Whitney who were kind enough to throw a shower for Kit. Thank you so much to everyone that came and for all of the adorable stuff!! I had so fun showing everything off to Jordan tonight!!

For our 2 years being married, we headed up to Park City for the weekend and had a lot of fun.

We actually got to the outlets too early so we had to wait for the stores to open (I know, US being early for anything?!)

Somehow we ended up eating at the Pizza Hut in town for seriously at least 3 meals. Finally we went all out and found a little teriyaki bowl place right next to the theater where we saw Couples Retreat.

Mitko's Haunting Adventure

I thought I had this brilliant idea of what to do with Mitko one night. The Treehouse Children's Museum was doing a Haunted Woods thing in honor of halloween. It said it wasn't scary and there were candy and prizes involved. I thought it would be perfect for Mitty to run around the Treehouse and get little treats. Well when we got there, we found out that all of the regular exhibits, like the train area and musical instruments and such were closed and the haunted woods was a storytelling time that involved going to different stations to see people dressed up like fairytale characters that would have you sit down for several minutes while they told you your story. Well this would have been great, except poor Mitko does not like sitting down for any amount of minutes, and he just wanted to go play with the darkened exhibits.
So sadly the night involved a lot of me pulling him away after he'd pushed the button that started a loud Abe Lincoln talking exhibit and when he found the xylophone at the beginning of a story.
However, at the very end tale of the Three Little Pigs, they handed out the grand prize of a Hostess cupcake and I'm not sure that Mitko has ever been happier :-).

Dress design for Shabby Apple dresses

This is my Dress design for Shabby Apple dresses (I absolutely love their Manhattan line!) It's my first shot at designing a dress and I had a blast doing it! My inspiration came from my Grandma Sharon, who helped me sew sleeves onto my first dance dress and is always making costumes, dolls, and wedding dresses for her family of 11 kids (and many more grandchildren). Love you Grandma!

Thankfully, she lent me her dress form and I went off to the fabric store in search of sweet dress material. I love bright colors so I decided to use sari fabric for the bottom of the dress because the colors are so rich and the silky texture is just beautiful.

I think I may also have been inspired by the rocking music on The Fugitive, which my husband was watching in the background while I was making this. Good movie!

I threw a pink bow on this one just for fun.

I also tried out one of my belts.

I really liked this blue fabric too.

Summer Fun

We just got back from a wonderful week in San Diego. We tried body surfing, and boogey boarding at the beach, ate great food, and did a lot of shopping....

and best of all....we went to Disneyland! I was so excited to go that I woke up at 6 a.m. cause I couln't sleep thinking about it. None of us had ever been on the Tower of Terror and it was so so fun! I think it's my favorite...right after Indiana Jones of course.
Sadly, I thought little C-Town would enjoy it as much as we did so we talked him in to riding it and he hated it. Poor guy! I felt so bad! But we worked the fastpass system and were there from open to close and we hit a TON of the rides. It was Jordan's first time in Disneyland so I was extra excited to have him go on all the rides. They were all great, except the Finding Nemo ride, since I'm a little afraid of underwater things, so it gave me a little bit of a panic attack, but other than that....It was awesome!!!

We also went to Balboa Park. We tried to check out some of the museums while my parents went to an Imax. We got into a free art museum and saw a Rembrandt, but by the time we got out of that, everything else was closed. So we just had to hang out on the lawn until my family was done but it was pretty fun.

Random sidenote, on our way home from Moab, Jordan flicked his hand on the windshield to kill a mosquito and this is what happened:

We just got back from a weekend with the Wilsons camping in Moab. We ended up camping right next to Uncle Al's brother. There was also a huge AA/Drug rehab reunion at our campsite. We had lots of fun and some funny stories. In fact....I have a possible guest blogger developing a graphic novel of one special part of our trip at this moment....

But for now, here are some photos of the trip.

Jordan found this sweet Indiana Jones hat at one of the local shops. We also found some guitar strings for Tyler, but sadly there was something wrong with the guitar so the strings kept breaking and we didn't get to hear any sweet tunes.

Oh we also found some magnetic hemitate that Jordan is modeling for us.

Here is an arch they decided to name after us. How nice of them! Look how short I look! I am on the downslope but still!

Me, Jord and Tyler decided to go on a little adventure exploring Moab one night and we found a random mine car at this crazy restaurant that used to be a uranium millionaire's home. It was on the top of the mountain and there was this really scary, windy, one lane road that led up to it.

Next, we found a strange park that had a big tombstone with all these names engraved on it and a monument donated by hospice?? Then we saw this deer.

And a hippie van...

We spent the next day at Arches National Park.

Home Sweet Home

Here's our cozy little Cahoon home. We moved in a couple weeks ago and we love our little place!

Here's our backyard. We've got some really nice neighbors. Right behind us is a little dude named David. He told us how his dog had to be put to sleep because he did a "bad trick". We asked him what the dog did and he said, "He scooted across the floor on his buttocks." David also met Mitty by asking, "Hey, who's that guy?" When Jordan told him it was Mitko, David said, "Whoa, that's a weird word."

I love being right by the mountain.

And having a garage!

Our place is pretty cozy and just like our apartment, you can see most of the top floor from one spot.
Here's our bright bathroom.

The kitchen is maybe my favorite part of the house. It's really bright and cheery.

Jordan has the best balance. This table's pretty heavy actually!

Our room is also really cool too. The colors and everything are really relaxing.

We bought a new bed from ikea that sits on the ground, but we had a bit to do before we could get the bed set up. We had Mitko that weekend so we didn't get started until pretty late.

Jordan and some friends nicely packed up our apartment and moved everything over to the house while I was on a girl's trip to St. George. Unfortunatly, there wasn't much unpacking that happened and when I came home, this is what my bed looked like:

So, after the ordeal of getting all of those clothes put away, we finally got to work on the bed.

It was actually pretty fun to put it together by ourselves. There isn't any box spring and somehow these thin little slat things hold up us and our mattress.

And here's the finished product!! I love the poster that Steph had to search for to find for me so I could have a twinner one like her. It looked super cute with the green paint in the front room but Jordan flat out refused to have it in the front room unless I allowed him to hang up a giant Jets poster.

We also got a couch from ikea, which was quite the ordeal. It involved driving to Draper/West Valley at least 5 times, and several calls to the store. When we finally got it, we had to keep rearranging all the packages to even remotely fit in my parent's Suburban. Then when we unloaded everything, the boxes, packaging, cushions and everything seriously took up our whole front room.

It took quite a while to get set up and I actually abondoned Jordy and went to bed at one point. It worked out pretty good though.
By the way, Mitko has these sweet cutoff jean shorts that are slightly short on him because he has such long skinny legs. So Jordan finally discovered that Mitko must be a "never nude" like Tobias on Arrested Development...

We also had our first little summer BBQ in the backyard.

The Many Adventures with Mitko

We have started watching Mitko a couple weekends a month and it's been pretty fun. He's pretty crazy most of the time but sometimes he will do something and we will just say, "He can be a pretty cute kid." Here's a little of what the 3 of us have been up to:

Judging by this first picture, you know this is going to be a good post, right?

I really tried to get a picture of him smiling or at least with his eyes open, but this is what we've got. He loves scooter rides with Jordan. Do you like his pink helmet? :-)

We had a great hike one Friday morning back in May.

These two are good buds. Jordan is really great with Mitko.

We had fun hiking! We loved living at Skyline with the trails right behind us. Mitko saw some dogs on the trial and made some of his own paths.

Later we took Mitty to the Gateway on Frontrunner. We ate at the food court and we found out he loved chow mein.

It was a little cold, but Jordan was a good sport to go through the fountains with Mitty.

On Saturday there was an Easter egg hunt. The special needs section was in the tennis court at Friendship Park. We kept Mitlins pretty busy the 2 days before so he was really tired while we waited for the hunt to start.

Then when it was time to get the eggs, Mitko wasn't really interested at all. I think I got him to pick up like 2 eggs. It was really cold though!

This past weekend we had Mitty and after another trip to gateway on the train (which involved me leaving my purse under the seat and chasing down FrontRunner from Layton...) we headed to the Wilson's for a BBQ.

Hope yall had a great Valentine's day! We had fun! I totally got to sleep in and wake up to some sweet flowers Jord got. We had a really chill day and it was nice just hanging out. For dinner we went to Hug Hes Cafe, cause I really love their pasta salad (well, who doesn't). Then we went to see...TwilighT! It was Jordan's first time seeing it and I only had to hit him a couple times during the movie for laughing.

Mom and Dad Wilson came too! Yay!

Okay, on to craft night. Me and sister in law Sariah and cousin in law Shawna decided to get together for a monthly craft night. Last night was our kick-off and it was super fun! We made boxes to keep stuff in. Here is the process:

This was the chatting/catching up/admiring the cute scrapbook paper options phase. This is best done when your sister in law has the best collection of scrapbook paper known to man and when you also discover for the first time that her scrapbook designs are copyrighted and published! (She is so modest!) The optimal results also occur when your cousin in law has a whole scheme of cute matching paper/letters/glittery things, etc. All I had was leftover stuff I bought to get ideas for wedding colors...like 2 years ago...

Then you ModPodge the box and let it dry. The best way to accomplish this is to put the box over your fist and twist you wrist around a little bit, like so.

For my birthday we went to Salt Lake and ate at what Jordan has declared as "the only authentic pizza place around", Settebello ("beautiful seven").

Here is the famous margherita pizza. The crust is really thin and there's just a little bit of sauce and mozzarella cheese with whole basil leaves.

We then made the mistake of ordering gelato. It was a mistake, because there is no way we can ever go to Salt Lake now without getting some of this sweet stuff.

Then on my big day, Jordan let me sleep in while he cooked up some breakfast. It was great!

Cruising Together

Well I finally decided to add a photo or two to the old blog. Here's some photos from our Christmas cruise!

This was the view out of our airplane on the day we left.

Costa Maya, Mexico. I kept singing Kenny Chesney songs when I was here. It was super laid back.

It got hit by a hurricane a year ago, and they are still rebuilding this resort.

We hung out in the hammocks all day and Jordan had a little trouble getting out of the hammock :-)

The resort had a FREeezing pool. I think me and Jordan are the only adults that actually got in.

There were some cool tidepools with little creatures in them.

This was the view right off of our ship. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see any of this lucious land, we were confined to only the sad shipyard and a warehouse of merchants. We started walking down this abondoned street to try to get into some jungle, but there was an armed guard at the bottom of the street and it made me a little nervous, so we just stuck to the warehouse.

Belize City, Belize. We went on the Raiders of the Lost Mayan Caves excursion, which involved ziplines, repelling, swinging suspension bridges, and Mayan ruins.

One Year!

The day before our first anniversary, Jordan met me right after work and we rode Frontrunner down to Salt Lake. When we got there, we decided it would be faster to walk to the restaurant, Bucca di Bepo, rather than hop on Trax. Unfortunately, we didn't have the address, or really know exactly where we were going, so we walked around downtown SLC for awhile before we actually found where to eat. Then we stayed the night at the Anniversary Inn, thanks to a wedding gift we got from our friends Lindsey and Mark. We stayed in the Phantom of the Opera room and it was pretty sweet.

Then on our actual anniversary (October 11th), we went to Weber's rugby game cause they were playing UVU and one of Jordan's old companions was on the team. It was fun, but it started hailing and snowing.

I have recently discovered why my husband is so cold. I began to have suspicions about his true identity when he refused to go in any sunlight and wanted only to stay in our dark apartment and watch movies. Then, I discovered his insatiable desire for meat cooked rare. He has now revealed to me that he is indeed a vegetarian vampire (but I have been strictly instructed that I cannot make any reference to those "Cullens" mentioned in a certain book that will not be named.) Anyways, since i now know that my husband is immortal, he has agreed to pull out some of his old yearbook photos for your enjoyment.
